Submit // Convocatoria

Alba is accepting submissions for the magazine’s inaugural issue! For this edition, Alba has decided to provide readers with a taste of the creative work of talented writers and artists with connections to Puerto Rico.

The deadline to submit is:

Important notes:

  • Texts need not be about the archipelago to be included in the magazine.

  • Whether it's your first poem, an essay sitting in your folders untouched, an experimental piece that differs from your usual, or if writing is ‘just a hobby,’ we would love to provide a home for your work here.

  • At present, we are unable to compensate our writers monetarily. However, with the launch of a subscription service and print magazines for sale, we are committed to providing compensation in the future, including back pay for those who submit pieces before the establishment of compensation. For the inaugural issue, we offer the following options in place of monetary compensation (below). From the Alba team, we thank you for your understanding.

    • Gift card to your favorite cafe.

    • Free editing consultation and services on two future works (up to 2,000 words for each project).

    • If there is another method of compensation that you would like to suggest, please reach out.

  • We welcome and encourage texts in Spanish.

  • If you have any questions or constructive feedback, please email us. We will respond as soon as possible.

  • There is no submission fee.
